Odisha STF rescues live pangolin, arrests wildlife smuggler

Bhubaneswar:-On the basis of reliable information, a team of STF conducted raid with the
help of Koraput Forest Division officials and Koraput district police on
14.08.2024 evening on Nandapur- Bodigoan road under Semiliguada PS
jurisdiction Dist. Koraput regarding dealing/possession of wildlife products
by wildlife criminals, as a result of three wildlife criminals namely 1) Sada
Disari (48) S/O Singa Disari Vill: Pukalimaliguda PO: Dudhari, PS: Similiguda ,
District: Koraput , 2) Moses Khara, 47 years S/o. Late Ghasiram Khara of
Pukalimaliguda PO/PS. Pottangi Dist. Koraput and 3) Landu Tadingi, 31 years
S/o. Narsi Tadingi village. Chindiri PS. Similiguda Dist. Koraput were
apprehended.
During search one Live Pangolin, One Maruti Alto Car along
with other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession.
The accused persons could not produce any authority in support of
possession of such Live Pangolin, for which they have been apprehended
and is being forwarded to the Court of JMFC, Semiliguda Dist. Koraput. In
this connection STF PS Case No.20 dated 14.08.2024 U/s.
303(2)/317(2)/61(2)(a) BNS r/w. Sec.51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972
was registered. The live Pangolin has been handed over to DFO, Koraput
Forest Division for safe custody and rehabilitation.Investigation is going on.
