Awareness programme on POCSO Act held at Banpur.
Khordha :-An awareness programme on POCSO Act and compensation for women victims under this Act was held on Monday by Banpur Taluk Legal Services Committee at Banpur Block conference hall. TLSC Chairman and Senior Civil Judge Amaresh Mohapatra presided over the event, while ABDO in charge Nirakar Jena, Front Office Retainer Padmaja Patnaik , Banpur Bar Association Secretary Ranjan Kumar Bedamata , advocate Jagdish Patnaik, Sitaram Agrawal, Kameswar Achari and many teaches attended. On this occasion, Judge Mr. Mohapatra gave a detailed account of the various crimes committed against children and their punishments.Child sexual abuse, violence and publishing, distribution of pornography is an offence. Concealment of child abuse and disclosure of victim’s identity is also a punishable offense under the Act, he said. He also discussed the compensation provisions under the said Act for the victims.
