Berhampur:A severe health hazard has emerged at the newly renovated District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Berhampur, as a dump yard and transit point have been set up right in front of the hospital. The situation is further exacerbated by the dumping of hospital waste in the same area, causing a foul smell that is affecting patients, attenders, and passersby.

Despite the massive building constructed under the 5T initiative by the previous government, waste management and treatment were overlooked. The space provided in front of the hospital gate has been converted into a dump yard and transit point by the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), posing a serious health risk to everyone concerned.

Citizens are demanding immediate action from the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), BeMC Health Department, and the Ganjam district administration to address this issue. They are urging the authorities to shift the dump yard and transit point to a more suitable location, away from the hospital premises.

The foul smell emanating from the dump yard is causing discomfort to people passing through the road, patient attenders, and patients themselves. This is a serious concern, as it can lead to the spread of diseases and compromise the health of those seeking medical treatment.

The citizens’ demand for a solution to this health hazard is gaining momentum, and the authorities are expected to take swift action to mitigate the risk and ensure a clean and hygienic environment for patients and the public.
