Bhubaneswar: Women swimmers from Odisha scripted history Tuesday by winning the state’s first-ever medal at the Senior Nationals in Mangalore. They won a bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay on the opening day of the 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships.

Pratyasa Ray made it a double delight for Odisha as she also became the state’s first-ever in- dividual medal winner, bagging a silver in 100m backstroke later in the day. Pratyasa was also part of the relay team. The three other swimmers in the team were Shristi Upadhyaya, Divyanka Divyajyoti Pradhan and Sonia Patel. They finished the race in 9:03.53 seconds. Swimmers from Karnataka and Maharashtra bagged the gold and silver medals respectively.
